My ethics

(under construction)

Ratoon Stud has a no cull policy. Firstly because every rat is precious and I will allow every rat I own to live out its full life and provide vetinary care when necessary. Secondly, I do breed for health and temperment therefore culling my rats down will not provide me with the full data set necessary to judge whether there are any problems present or not.

Rat reports are written around every 6 months recording any problems that may arise with them. Questionnaires are sent out to Ratoon Rat owners for them to express any concerns about their rats. I then base my breeding plans on what I know in order to do what gives the best possible advantage to my rats.

My rats are fed on the shunamite diet (created by Alison Campbell)as I feel this benefits them greatly and is not only healthy but interesting for them to eat! My rats also get suplimented with fruit or vegtables every day but kale is used the majority of the time due to its nutritional values. Older rats recieve naturesdiet once a week, but younger rats get extra protein more often.

Babies get Naturediet, hi-life and EMP along with a constant stream of curly kale. I find this helps them to grow big and strong and help them reach their full potential along side mum's milk.
